I read this awhile back and it stuck with me. As one who has never cared for the use of the world “soulmate”-I did like this definition-because it defines it in a way that makes sense for me, and frames my thinking on what it means to not only have a soul mate, but to be one.
From Elizabeth Gilbert Eat, Love, Pray
“Your problem is you don’t understand what that word means. People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that’s holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come in to your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you and then they leave. And thank God for it.”

Read this today. It made me think of happy thoughts.
“Why do you call me silly names? You hardly ever use my name.”
“To avoid being repetitious and tiresome, but in my heart your name rings like a bell.”
from The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck

Tim gave me my first real laugh in days…
“Right-wingers taking kids out of school over politics doesn’t surprise me. These folks are fascinated by cars driving in a circle for hours.” TimByrd at @TimByrd on Twitter.

I don’t read Harry as much anymore at his new tumblr site, he’s not as prolific or substantive as before over at www.whistleandfish.com, but I encourage you to drop in and check it out.
Very insightful, wise words.

BRAVO!
I must say that in the aftermath of my divorce this was a frequent topic of conversation. How to let go, how to not hate, how to remember the love that was experienced for the wonder that it was, and not for the horrible thing it might have become.
As I have heard a lot lately, there is a fine love between love and hate. It can be a difficult balancing act that catches us unaware, but we must always err on the side of love, never hate.
Love should be celebrated and delighted in. We should all surround ourselves with people who we can love and trust and share joys. It should be about ice cream, poems, songs, and whispers. It should improve life, not diminish it.
And most of all, it must be shrouded in honesty. For only when you are able to be truly honest with someone can you know that the love is strong enough to guide you through any difficulties you may encounter. That it is real, not built upon smoke and mirror images, or beautiful words that veil truths, or disguise the true lover from his/her beloved.
